TKX Corporation was founded in 1922 as a company selling and manufacturing polishing materials, and subsequently worked to establish a strong position as a manufacturer of industrial grinding wheels. In 1987, the company name was changed from "Toho Kongo Corporation" to the current name, and while retaining traditional technical capabilities, the company entered a new chapter in its history.
The "T" in TKX represents advanced Technology, the "K" represents Knowledge and plentiful know-how, and the "X" represents the concept of challenging infinite possibilities. In other words, this name represents a desire to continually be the top company in our field by utilizing technology and knowledge to take on any challenge. We believe that corporations grow and develop by always aiming to be the best, without being content with the current level.
Embarking on a challenge in a new area of business, in 1997, we started to apply our traditional technical capabilities to the manufacture of silicon wafers for solar cells. As a result of steady efforts and continual technical innovations, we were able to achieve one of the highest yield rates in the industry at our plant, and have grown into a corporation that can boast the world's highest number of manufactured wafers.
In the future, TKX will continue to pursue technical innovation on a daily basis, and all of our employees will, by promoting greater harmony with local communities and contributing to improvements in the global environment, fulfill their social responsibilities as corporate citizens.
