It has been over 20 years since we started importing steel shot and steel grit from overseas to use for blasting off scate and molding sand, cutting granite and cleaning metal parts. We imported most of the steel shot and steel grit from Japan. The small IKK steel shot was a high-demand product with imports increasing every year.
Early in 1988, Siam Tochu Co.,Ltd. manufacturer of a metal scrubbing machine and distributor of the steel shot and steel grit in the country, decided to build a steel shot and steel grit manufacturing plant in Thailand to replace imports and reduce the trade deficit.
Siam Tochu Co.,Ltd. consulted with IToh Metal Abrasive Co.,Ltd. the manufacturer of IKK steel shot and steel grit in japan, concerning the possibility of constructing a steel shot and steel grit manufacturing factory in Thailand. Siam IKK Co.,Ltd. was established on 18 April 1988 and was registered on 29 April 1988,with 32 million baht in capital as a joint-venture between four companies: Siam Tochu Co., Ltd ltoh Metal Abrasive Co.,Lid. (Japan), Toyota Tsusho Co.,Ltd. (Japan) and Toyota Tsusho Co., Ltd. (Thailand).
Our factory, located in the Bangpoo Industrial Zone, Amphur Muang, Samutprakarn Province, was the first of its type to receive support from the Board of lnvestment. The original production capacity was 2, 000 tons per year. Production of steel shot and steel grit began on 22 April 1989.
