DiaTiger®, an exclusive product of Diamond Tool Coating, is made up of interlocking layers of poly and nano crystalline diamond. The alternating layers provide the strongest protection against abrasive and adhesive wear, and cutting edge damage from mechanical shock.
All tool coatings can develop cracks in the coating structure from the mechanical shock absorbed by the tools cutting edge during the machining process. This is a leading cause of premature coating failure with poly-crystalline diamond coatings because the crack follows the grain boundary line of the large diamond crystals directly to the tools surface exposing the tungsten carbide tool material to heat, abrasion and other wear mechanisms.
DiaTiger® Diamond prevents cracks from reaching the tool surface because the ultra fine grain crystal structure is stronger (much like fine grain tungsten carbide) and the multi-layers provide multiple barriers that divert any cracks from reaching to tools surface.
Another advantage of the extremely small crystals in DiaTiger® Diamond is that it leaves a very smooth surface on the tool's cutting edge that provide finer finishes on machined parts compared to poly-crystalline diamond coatings.
