Ultramat South Africa, established in 2004, took advantage of the high-quality well priced specialized engineering products available from certain premium Chinese suppliers, and by so doing, has added value for local customers and others in Europe and the Americas as the sole distributor for GESAC products in Africa.
Ultramat SA supplies products originating mainly from GESAC Ltd of Xiamen China, in partnership with MCT-UltraParts (Europe) who have been successfully supplying product from GESAC into the European and North American markets for 14 years in quantities often exceeding 100 tons a month.
GESAC is one of China’s premier hardmetal producers, and is their largest exporter. In August 2005, Sandvik Sweden purchased a 10% share in GESAC, with Sumitomo Japan owning 30% of the shares for more than 10 years. GESAC has been a fully ISO 9001 certified supplier since January 1998, having been audited by the Det Norske Veritas Certification Authority.

The directors and senior technical staff of Ultramat have more than 60 years combined experience, with postgraduate degrees in hardmetal processing, having worked in research, product development, production, technical sales support and management for various global hardmetal companies.
In addition, Ultramat SA conducts independent quality assurance tests in its own laboratories on all products received, ensuring that agreed specifications are adhered to.
Parts provided include mining, industrial; wear parts and rotary-cutting solid-carbide milling tooling. Customers are almost without exception highly complimentary regarding the product and service provided by Ultramat SA.
Ultramat SA has a hands-on customer-focused approach with a desire visible in its team of tens' efforts to provide a high level of customer support. Ultramat SA is confident of providing advanced carbide tooling products and solutions to its growing customer base.
Other products supplied by Ultramat include tantalum, niobium and molybdenum metals and carbides in various shapes, extrusions, wires, plates, tubes and baskets. Boron carbide ceramics for the ballistic armour and abrasion protection industries are routinely supplied. Chromium oxides and carbides and thermal-spraying HVOF carbide powders are also available for wear and corrosion protection, and for anilox engraving.
Sister-company, Mohs 10 Technologies is the sole African distributor for the range of Diamond Innovations® (ex General Electric Superabrasives®) synthetic diamonds, polycrystalline diamond (PCD), cubic boron nitride (CBN) and associated ultra-hard materials, and also for the Eurotungstene® range of specialized powders for the diamond-tooling and hardmetal industry.
