Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials KK(Previous name:JAPAN Abrasive Company) was founded in Yokohama in 1927,and the first company in Japan to produce artificial abrasives(silicon carbide) .Later,the production of electro-fused aluminium-oxide abrasives was begun.In 1937 the company moved to Sakai to take advantage of better surroundings and the present company was established.For more than half a century,we have continuously supplied our customers of Automobile and Electronics,Precision machine,Imformation technology with high quality products in our role as Japan's only specialty manufacturer of abrasives.In 1990,we established AFM(Australian Fused Materials Pty.,Ltd.),a Japanese Austaralian joint venture corporation.In 1999,we received an infusion of capital from Saint-Gobain of France,the World's largest manufacturer of abrasive materials,and become part of the Saint-Gobain Group.Our company name was changed to Saint-gobain ceramic materials K.K. as of January 1st 2001.using our knowledge base,the technology we have cultivated over the years and the experience of Saint-Gobain's engineering,we are striving new levels of growth and development.
