A New York jewelry designer known for his ornate jewelry and diamond designs favored by hip hop celebrities, Jacob Arabov, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on charges of aiding a multi-state drug ring ran by the Black Mafia Family gang launder its profits back in June of 2006. israelidiamond.col.il reported the indictment back in August of 2008.
AKA "Jacob the Jeweler," he has now forfeited $2 million of his assets to the federal government for misleading police and adulterating financial records concerning his transactions with Terry “Southwest P” Flenory, one of the founders of the mafia. "Jacob the Jeweler" hoped to conceal profits of $5 million of drug profits that were invested in jewelry and diamonds.
The IRS distributed forfeiture moneys to police departments in Detroit, Grosse ILe, Livonia, Birmingham and Livinstone for assisting the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration with the drug ring investigation, after retaining $400,000 for administration costs.
