Specialist coating company, Cemecon has opened a new Applications Centre at its main headquarters in Würselen, Germany. The company is running a complete pilot production line to quickly, safely and reliably transfer all turnkey processes and customer designed coating solutions from the development stage to maturity phase.

Innovative solution concepts can be developed through comprehensive consideration of substrate, tool geometry and individual coating. Cemecon feels strongly that high quality technology can only work well with the proper periphery and measurement technology, and works closely with users, machinery and tool manufacturers, technical universities and other institutions. To solve certain tasks, the respective machining process is illuminated from all sides.

Ten differently equipped PVD and diamond coating systems are available to the team for optimisation and documentation of turnkey processes around the clock at the Application Centre. In addition, a blasting hall and a chemical laboratory with new de-coating technology is available for development work, as well as for testing turnkey processes to determine their series-production readiness.

There is also a showroom, where technology customers may view and “pick up” their own PVD or CVD technology for final release in attractive surroundings. Customers can be trained in the technology, normally leaving very few questions remaining regarding the handling and the technology. The equipment can be directly incorporated into the production line of the tool manufacturer. A new measurement room with state-of-the-art high-tech equipment is part of the showroom in which quality control of the sample coatings can be performed directly on the spot and in the presence of the customer.
