A Dubai designer who designed a wedding dress fashioned from 24-karat gold recently displayed the gown in Italy.
The wedding dress was the centerpiece of Rami Al Ali Couture's 2009-10 autumn/winter collection, which was displayed at the Cavalieri Hotel in Rome.
The dress was created by treating pure 24-karat gold, turning it into tulle, a lightweight net-style fabric usually made from nylon or silk, which was then transformed into a full wedding gown.
Last year, a dress made from filigreed 24-karat gold weighing 2kg went on display at a mall in Visakhapatnam, India. The garment was evaluated at £36,320.
