Abstract This paper analyses the diamond processing features,taking into account the mechanical properties of the single-crystal diamond, PCD and diamond films. The processing of its grinding is further studied: single-crystal diamond should be on the edge orientation grinding by means of its anisotropy of the characteristics, polycrystalline diamond should grind cutting edge by means of the characteristics of large grinding resistance and small grinding ratio. It can improve the diamond cutter grinding efficiency , reduce grinding costs and improve the cutting edge quality by use of these features. Finally the related edge grinding technology of diamond cutting tools is introduced in this paper.
