Durgapur Steel Plant records 8% jump in hot metal productin in June 2012

Durgapur Steel Plant has registered growth in major areas of production in June 2012. While hot metal production of 1,85,037 tonnes showed a growth of 8% over the corresponding period last year (CPLY), the crude steel production at 1,66,805 tonnes was also 8% higher over CPLY. At 1,62,003 tonnes, DSP's saleable steel production showed a growth of 10% over CPLY.
"The DSP collective through its determined effort has achieved growth in the production of Hot Metal, Crude Steel and Saleable Steel and is fully geared up to carry forward the momentum in the coming months," said P K Singh, chief executive officer of DSP.
In June 2012 production performance in several other areas like Sinter Plant at 2,66,891 tonnes and TMT Bars at 25,500 tonnes exceeded the Annual Production Plan (APP) targets. The plant's best Q1 performance was also recorded in the production of Concast Blooms at 1,54,680 tonnes.
During the month, production of special quality and value added products was 77% of Saleable Steel production which was the best June performance with 14% growth over June 2011. In Q1, production of special quality and value added products was 80% of Saleable Steel which was the best Q1 performance with 23% growth over CPLY.
