Top political advisor Jia Qinglin has called for the "full revitalization" of industrial centers in Northeast China, as well as promoting economic development, social harmony and stability there.
Jia, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, recently visited several enterprises, communities, farms and construction sites in the cities of Harbin, Daqing and Jixi in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.
Efforts should be made to accelerate the transformation of agricultural growth, strengthen farming infrastructure and promote both industrial agriculture and farming technology in order to ensure food security, said Jia.
The local manufacturing industry should be greatly transformed and the development of advanced equipment manufacturing should be accelerated, Jia said, adding that "green manufacturing" should be promoted.
He urged local authorities to restore the environment, lower pollutant emissions and implement low-carbon development concepts. The development of ecological tourism should also be accelerated, Jia added.
Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, urged local CPC committees to enhance guidance for local advisory bodies.
Local political advisory bodies should assist the Party and the government to solve conflicts and strengthen unity so as to create a sound social environment for the upcoming CPC's 18th National Congress, Jia said.
