Abstract With the continually development of modern mechanism processing and continuously emergences of kinds of new materials, the requirement of processing precision and surface coarseness has been enhanced more and more, which results in the responding grinding techniques and grinding tools, especially the coated superhard abrasives tools, tend to be higher efficient, longer life and ultraprecision. Inhence, the research and application of coated superhard abrasives tools have rised quietly, while its proportion in coated abrasives tools has increased year after year and it has been used for processing materials in automotive industry, electronic industry, glass processing, gems processing, stainless steel and chilled steel etc. High-quality superhard abrasive paper and polyester film disc are requited to polish vehicles, process crankshaft and camshaft of engine. What we should pay more attention to is that superhard abrasive belt take an unique advantages in grinding hard processing materials such as hard alloy, gems, ceramic, Ti alloy and so on, for example, it has been sucessfully used in grinding and polishing precision parts including disk, magnetic heads, video tape recorder, duplicating machine and photoconductive fiber head etc.. As for abrasive belt grinding machine, it has developed from manual machine to the latter electric machine till the automatic machine In short words, superhard abrasive belt is a high technique coated abrasive product with high additive value and high benefit. Diamond and CBN eletroplating belts have already been applied to every relating fields as mature production. This article has introduced the development of coated superhard abrasives tools both inland and abroad, and the research situation in our institute.
