Govt mulling over setting up marble processing unit at Nagarparkar: Shaukeen

Imamuddin Shauqeen, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Mines and Minerals, said on Monday that enormous deposits of marble exist in Nagarparkar, Jhampir and Sonda, adding there is a huge demand of this marble in the local and international market. The exports of marble has also got significant boom, he said while talking to a delegation of Marble Association here.
He said that the government is mulling to set up a Marble Processing House in Nagarparkar which will contain all facilities so that raw marble could be processed and value-added items made at the same place. The advisor said this project of value addition will help boosting marble export and earn foreign exchange. Imamuddin Shauqeen said his department would encourage every effort aimed at boosting mining sector and creating jobs. Sindh is rich in natural resources and huge investment opportunities exit for private entrepreneurs in this sector. The need is that the coordination between mines department and private sector be made more effective so that mines and mineral production could be raised significantly, he said. The advisor directed department officials to accelerate their efforts for developing strong coordination with private sector, he added.
