Zimbabwe government officials are organizing an international conference on diamonds to take place in mid-November in Victoria Falls, Diamond Intelligence reports. The conference will feature speakers who were supposed to present at the diamond industry conference that had originally been slotted for July.
Zimbabwe Ministry of Mines and Mining Development Obert Mpofu will be hosting the conference and will be joined at the conference by World Diamond Council Chair Eli Izhakoff, Dubai Multi Commodities Center executive chair Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council former chair Vasant Mehta, World Federation of Diamond Bourses President-Elect Ernie Blom, and other diamond industry leaders. Representatives of the country's mining companies will speak on the second day of the conference, according to Diamond Intelligence.
The government of Zimbabwe had planned an international diamond conference to have taken place in July, but only weeks before the scheduled dates, the conference was cancelled abruptly, indefinitely, and without explanation.
