Luweero gets sh8b stone quarry

DOTT Services, one of the leading local construction companies, is to invest $4m (about sh8.6b) in a stone quarry at Semutto in Luweero, company officials have said.
Krishna Devarao, the project manager, said the quarry was aimed at boosting the construction sector, adding that in most instances, projects delay because of failure to get construction materials on time.
The are setting up a modern stone quarry with a capacity to crush up to 400 tonnes of stones per hour and an asphalt batch mix plant with a capacity of producing 120 tonnes of pre-mixed materials for the road sector,?Devarao told reporters during a tour of the quarry recently.
He said the quarry, which is on an 80-acre piece of land, would employ over 200 people directly and indirectly. He also said they had adopted safety measures to protect communities in the surrounding areas.

He said that this first-aid center will also serve the local communities who have always had free access to it. Krishna said they have also upgraded a 4.2km road at a cost of shs150m, to access the quarry and serves the community, adding that they had also built boreholes for quarry staff and the community.
In the near future a power line will also be brought to the quarry, he said.
