Abstract this paper details the solution compositions and their functions for electroplating Ni-Fe alloy. The results of experiment indicated that Ni-Fe alloy deposit is an ideal matrix material for electroplating diamond bit. Through adjusting the plating bath composition and the electroplating technology parameters, nickel-cobalt deposit with different hardness and wearing resistance can be obtained to meet the requirements of electroplated diamond bit. Experiments with single factor were used to find out the affection law of the concentration of ferrous sulphate on deposit hardness. The results were used to trial-produce three diamond bits and then performed the indoor drilling tests in 9-grade felsic gneiss. The drilling rate was 1.87 m/h and the average bit life was 45.9 m.
