The Russian authorities have declassified information about a huge Eastern Siberian diamond deposit, which was first discovered in the 1970s but kept under wraps as the Soviet Union mined diamonds elsewhere and also produced synthetic diamonds.
The deposit is located beneath a 35-mln-year-old impact crater measuring about 100km in diameter. Experts say its development is likely to dramatically reduce the price of diamonds.
