A jewelry fair to be held this Thursday in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei will be the first of its kind for the island nation, Diamond Intelligence reports. The Taiwan Jewelry & Gem Fair will take place at the Taipei World Trade Center, in the city's business district, and continue over the course of the weekend.



Local jewelry industry organizations such as the Taipei Jewelers' Association, the Taiwan Jewelry Industry Association and UBM Asia are working in cooperation to bring together international suppliers, local buyers and domestic sellers. UBM also organizes other business-to-business fairs across Asia, including the highly popular Hong Kong Jewelry & Gem Fair.



The timing of the event is crucial, as it comes in advance of Christmas, the Gregorian New Year, the Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day, all seasonal events that generate increased sales in Taiwan, according to Diamond Intelligence.
