Abstract As the three main factors in designing of diamond grinding cup wheels, the processing objects,equipment and grinding requirements must be definite. In this paper, the formula design and appearance dimension control of diamond grinding cup wheels are discussed, and the design gist is analyzed. The results show that the proper addition of modified pre-alloyed powders will weaken the matrix and improve the grinding sharpness. Using coarse grits and low-grade diamonds will increase the reduction rate and the grinding sharpness. The formula design of diamond grinding cup wheels should be based on the characters of working objects.
