Diamond company Firestone reported that the last two months it conducted public sales of small and medium-sized rough diamonds it had mined and reaped over five million dollars from these sales, Mining.com reports. Overall, the firm sold all of the stones it brought to tender, 63,991 carats of gems for $5.1 million.
In October, Firestone presented its diamonds both in Botswana and Belgium and earned $3.5 million in revenue from the sale of 47,658 carats. The average per-carat price of these diamonds reached $75. In November, Firestone took in an additional $1.6 million from the sale of 16,333 carats in Antwerp alone, according to Mining.com. These diamonds fetched a higher per-carat price of $96. The firm attributed the significant 28% increase in the per-carat price of the November tender to their higher quality, owing to the origin of the stones, the K2 unit of the Main Pipe at Liqhuobong in Lesotho.
