China Shenhua Energy's Nov coal output edges up 0.8% on year to 24.2 mil mt

China Shenhua Energy Co, the listed subsidiary of state-owned Shenhua Group, said Friday it mined 24.2 million mt of commercially-ready coal in November, up 0.8% year on year.
Over January-November, it mined a total of 279 million mt of coal, up 8.4% year on year, the company said in a statement.
The company's coal sales in November totaled 41.8 million mt, up 31.9% year on year. Exports comprised 200,000 mt, in line with the year before.
Over the first eleven months of 2012, China Shenhua Energy sold 412.4 million mt of coal, up 18.1% year on year. Exports comprised 3.1 million mt, down 39.2% from the year-ago period.
The company imported 2.3 million mt of coal in November and 8.8 million mt over January-November. It did not import any coal over January-November 2011. The company did not provide a breakdown between thermal and coking coal.
It has a coking coal mining capacity of around 20 million mt/year, mainly from Shenhua Group subsidiaries Shenhua Wuhai Energy in Inner Mongolia and Shenhua Ningxia Coal Mining Group in Ningxia. Its thermal coal mining capacity is not clear.
China Shenhua Energy generated 16.73 billion kWh of electricity in November from its captive power plants, up 9.2% year on year. Over January-November its power generation totaled 188.59 billion kWh, up 9.4% from a year earlier.
