Taiwan steel export value down slightly in 2012

Statistics released by the Taiwan ministry of finance said that in 2012 Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 1.6% compared to 2011 amounting to USD 17.7 billion. Meanwhile in 2012 Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 14% compared to 2011 to USD 12.3 billion.
In December 2012 Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to USD 1.4 billion decreasing by 7.4% compared to the same month of 2011 but up 16.6% MoM. In the month in question the country's import value for iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 6.8% YoY to USD 945.6 million.
