Israel diamond company Leibish & Co. has added another significant stone to their already impressive collection of gems originating from Australia's Argyle diamond mine, the firm said in a press release. Leibish is especially proud of its latest addition, a 1.45-carat fancy intense pink Princess Cut polished diamond, because thanks to some critical improvements, they were able to vastly increase its worth.
Leibish's chief diamond purchaser Shmulik Polnauer first saw the stone when it was set in a platinum ring, weighing 1.52 carats and with a hue graded only as fancy pink. But Polnauer believed Leibish could increase the stone's color saturation without losing much of its mass, because some of its pink hue was hidden within. Polnauer was proven correct, and the re-shaping work conducted by Leibish only shaved seven percentage points off of the diamond's weight.
With this gem, Leibish's Argyle diamond collection stands at 105 stones.
