The responsible person from Beijing Municipal Commission of Science and Technology recently published that up to now, the number of confirmed around 3800 Beijing new high-tech enterprises tops the list nationwide. This year, Beijing newly launched nearly 50 major science and technology planning projects and 12 science and technology supporting projects benefiting the people's livelihood.

Based on Beijing Daily, Beijing Municipal Government News Office held a news press conference on August 18 to present the measures through which Beijing adheres to science and technology independent innovation to proactively cope with the financial crisis as well as the effects.

In the first half of this year, though impacted by the financial crisis, Beijing municipal science and technology service industry, soft and information service industry and biopharmaceutical industry all have realized the two-digit year-on-year growth, and especially the growth of the science and technology ranks the second in the category of the national economy industry, second to the finance industry.
