Media reports that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is mulling over a new working plan on regulating the industry of rare earth. According to the draft plan, the ministry is going to launch a new round of unprecedented rectification in which many departments will be involved. On the one hand, it will check the illegal exploitation and refinement of rare earth and intensify punishments. On the other hand, it will screen out those companies which illegally run rare earth business and shut them down immediately. In addition, the ministry will solicit opinions on whether to raise the resource tax on rare earth.
