Brazil iron ore export value down by 12pct in June from May

According to the preliminary information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 26.1 million tonnes in June this year decreasing 3.9% compared to May and up slightly by 0.9% compared to the same month of 2012.
Brazil's iron ore export value in June fell 12.2% compared to the previous month and was down by 5.7% compared to the same month of 2012 totaling USD 2.6 billion.
In June, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 319,900 tonnes decreasing 9.6% compared to the previous month and down 40.9% compared to the same month of 2012 while these exports were valued at USD 167 million decreasing by 29.9 compared to May and down 47.4% YoY.
Meanwhile, in June Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 109,200 tonnes decreasing 24.4% from May and down 35.3% YoY. The revenue generated by these exports in June totaled USD 81.3 million falling 39.2% MoM and down 45% from the June 2012 level.
