Belgium's Consumer Confidence Reaches Highest Level since September 2008

According to Antwerp Facets, the National Bank of Belgium has reported that its consumer confidence indicator has reached its highest level since September 2008. The indicator reportedly been gauged at minus 11 in August, up from minus 17 in July.
There are additional indicators that point to a certain level of recovery. The National Bank stated that the measure for households' saving capacity over the last 12 months rose to 5 in August as compared to 2 in July; the financial situation indicator increased to 1 from minus 2 in June. The measurement for the economic situation in Belgium during the last 12 months stood at 7 in August, up from minus 4 in July. The measure for unemployment declined to 57 from 65 in July.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development noted that GDP in the Euro zone dropped by 0.1% during this year’s second quarter, after a 2.5% drop during the first quarter.
