DIL Concludes Deal of Rough Diamonds from NDTC, Namibia

The Economic Times reports that Diamond India Limited (DIL), a consortium of 58 leading diamond and jewelry exporters from India, has won the support of the Government of India for the acquisition of rough diamonds from leading diamond mines worldwide.
At the present time, DIL acquires rough diamonds from Russian giant diamond miner Alrosa as well as rough diamonds from Angola. According to the website, the consortium is also in an advanced stage of negotiations with other leading mining producers of the world.
DIL recently concluded a deal for the purchase of rough diamonds from NDTC, Namibia), with the aid of Errki Nghimtina, Namibian Minister of Mines and Energy.
DIL is currently seeking to enter into additional contracts to purchase rough diamonds on a regular basis in the world market. DIL has also undertaken to set up a training institute for diamond processing in Windhoek, Namibia.
DIL is reportedly planning to sign an MoU with a visiting Namibian delegation in this regard. DIL believes that the agreement with Namibia will pave the way for other African countries.
