Dabu ceramic industry in a growth period

There has been some impressive growth in the ceramics industry in Dabu county, Guangdong province, with an output valued at 940 million yuan ($ 153 m) in the first half of 2013, for 17-percent year-on-year growth, the local government reports.
The county has tried to improve its ceramic technology through lectures, technicians, and expert advice, while cooperating with colleges, universities, and research institutes, and by pushing innovation, with new materials, new techniques, and new products, to revitalize the industry through science and technology.
The county has seen the popularity of ceramics with better technology and less pollution, with good economic results and a green modern industrial system. The Baofeng Ceramics Co, a high-tech Chinese ceramics manufacturer, has put 90 million yuan into a key provincial nano-composite porcelain project and expects construction work on it to be finished by the end of the year. The company plans to produce 35 million nano-composite porcelain objects annually, with a value of 215 million yuan.
So far, the county has 18 private scientific and technological enterprises and one national high-tech enterprise, and its towns of Gaobei and Taoyuan are recognized as innovative centers.
