PTI reported that JSW Steel is planning to export 3 million tonnes of steel in the current fiscal as sharp fall in rupee value against the US dollar in last few months has made Indian steel cheaper and competitive
Mr Seshagiri Rao joint MD and CFO of JSW Steel's told reporters here on the sidelines of a CII steel summit “Last year, we had exported 1.9 million tonne, this year we are looking to export 3 million tonnes. Fall in rupee and product mix of Indian companies have made them much more competitive in international markets.”
He said “JSW has added new markets like China, Japan, South Korea and the USA to its export basket in recent times. Earlier, it used to sell its products to west Asia, south east Asian and African countries.”
JSW has given a guidance of producing 12 million tonnes steel and is eyeing sales of 11.5 million tonnes, 1 million tons more from last years numbers to be met through exports.
