JSW Steel Jul-Sep crude steel output at 2.98 mn tonne, up 37% on year

JSW Steel Ltd’s crude steel production rose to 2.98 million tonne in Jul-Sep, up 37% from same period last year, the company said in a release today.
Production of flat rolled steel products stood at 2.45 million tonne, about 69% higher compared with the corresponding period last year, while that of long steel products increased only 3% year-on-year to 460,000 tonne.
Long steel products find wide application in the infrastructure and construction segment, while flat products are used mainly in the automobile sector.
"The company took shutdown of one of its Corex furnaces for relining and capacity enhancement during the quarter and the same has recommenced production from 12 September,” said the Mumbai-based company.
In the Apr-Sep period, the company recorded crude steel production of 5.84 million tonne, showing a growth of 35% over corresponding period of last year.
The company is engaged in manufacture of flat and long products like hot rolled coils, cold rolled coils, galvanised products, galvalume products, colour coated products, auto grade / white goods grade CRCA steel, bars and rods.
