European machine tool builders will use their own show in China to present their equipment.
Cecimo, Europe’s organisation of national machine tool building associations, reiterated predictions of little or no production growth in the sector this year, and it is to host a 2014 conference in China targeting top buyers from Asia.
After an 8% rise in output last year, growth in Europe has stalled, Cecimo said. It forecast production of 22.6 billion Euros this year, which matches 2012’s total.
The group may have found a way to rev up sales next year: A co-owner of the EMTE-Eastpo Machine Tool Exhibition in Shanghai, Cecimo said the show will include a “CEO Summit” on 15 July 2014. The meeting is expected to include some 300 leading machine tool makers and their buyers.
