Saint-Gobain has announced consolidation of its two Performance Plastics (PPL) Isofluor manufacturing operations into one new state-of-the-art facility in Neuss, Germany.
The consolidation enables Saint-Gobain to bring PTFE extrusion, melt extrusion, expansion and administration under one roof. The new facility will provide increased floor space and a layout designed to meet growth and current and future supply needs of customers around the world.
The company began operations at the new Neuss ISO 9001:2008 certified facility in June, following a successful, phased relocation that was staged in order to avoid disruption in production and supply to clients.
Previously, PTFE extrusion operations were housed in Sperberweg, while all other operations occurred at a separate facility in Neuss. The new facility also allows Saint-Gobain to better meet production and quality demands, including environmental issues and standards, and employee health and safety.
"With all employees now under one roof, we are able to optimize production and work processes,” said Thomas Rong, plant manager. “Our new facility has allowed us to expand our service to include coating of long pipes, a cooled mixing room and storage for PTFE and an enhanced technical environment. In addition, we have improved features for our employees, such as a break room and dressing rooms.”
