As the corollary equipment of industrial diamond superhard material, Heath talked about that the water jet follows the contour of the work piece so no focusing is required and the water cools the material as it is being cut, reducing the workpiece damage because of high temperature especial for CBN glomerocryst material with low content CBN. Laser Micro Jet is a precision cutting machine in which the laster pulses are directed down a very fine jet of water. As a result the laser pulses are taken to the bottom of the cut and the sides of the cut remain parallel. It can be used for cutting, slicing, dicing and drill materials, such as single crystal diamond, polycrystalline diamond, polycrystalline PCBN and CVD diamond. Cut up to 25mm deep have been achieved with a width of only 50 microns. A the water jet cannot bend, the cuts are perfectly straight.
