International Business Machines will be upgrading the capabilities of the Indian diamond industry with new technologies, Rough and Polished reports. At least five leading diamond companies in India have tapped IBM to transform their information technology infrastructure, which they say will ramp up their output from small-scale to world-class.
IBM will provide its Pureflex and power systems, which are scalable and would allow a diamond company to easily increase its production. The firm says that its technology solutions are cost-effective as they consolidate infrastructure, ensuring profit maximization.
Five of the Indian firms that have signed up for IBM upgrades are Thangamayil Jewelry, Emerald Jewel Industries, Dimexon Diamonds, Venus Jewels and ACPL Exports, according to Rough and Polished. The Indian diamond industry is considered to be the largest in the world and an upgrade in its productivity would have a commensurate impact for the global diamond industry.
