Qpedia Thermal eMagazine, the monthly publication dedicated to the thermal management of electronics, has just released the latest issue which can be downloaded free-of-charge at www.qats.com. Volume 7, Issue 10 features key topics in the electronics cooling industry, including heat transfer, thermal measurement, heat sink design, heat pipe analysis and cutting-edge technologies.
"The Impact of Orientation on a Heat Pipe’s Performance with Different Wick Structures,” presents an experimental study showing how thermal performance can be dependent upon factors such as inclination angle, heat input and operating temperature. “The Performance of a Heat Sink with Piezoelectric Fins,” discusses how engineers are introducing piezoelectric fans and synthetic air jets for LED cooling and heat sinks.
Qpedia also explores the latest technologies being developed in the engineering community, with the focus this month on the use of CVD diamonds in thermal management systems. Using CVD diamonds as a heat spreader is an emerging technology and as the opto-electronics, power and RF device markets continue to rapidly grow, the demand for superior thermal management solutions will facilitate further research and investments in to making synthetic diamonds a viable option in the semiconductor industry.
