Copper and zinc prices rose by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous base metals market today on fresh buying activity from consuming industries amid a firm global trend.

Traders attributed the rise in copper and zinc prices to a firm global trend where copper climbed as stockpiles continued to decline and before data that may show expansion in US services and factory orders, boosting the demand outlook for industrial metals.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.3 per cent to USD 7,334.75 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and zinc ingot rose by Rs 2 each to Rs 425 and Rs 109-115 per kg, respectively.
