Module price remains on the downtrend this week. Module demand in China remains weak while module demand in Japan continues to drop as the country enters the slow season for system deployment. Overall slower module demand continues exerting price cut pressure on modules. Cell price moderately drop this week. As Chinese module makers focus on buying Taiwanese cells under the US antidumping case, Chinese cell demand and its pricing is negatively impacted. At the same time, some Taiwanese cell companies take advantage of this opportunity and raise their cell prices to Chinese buyers. However, still some Taiwanese cell companies strategically cut price to secure EU orders when demand outlook starts to dim in Apr. In addition, some Taiwanese cell companies are becoming more conservative on future demand outlook. Therefore, overall cell price moderately drop this week.
Multi wafer price drop more dramatically this week with rampant price cuts in China. As cell demand in China dims, wafer demand and its pricing are also negatively impacted. In Taiwan, wafer companies try offering high quote price since cell companies still maintain high utilizations. However, Taiwanese cell companies resist further wafer price increase under the cell price downtrend. Actual wafer transaction price in Taiwan lands at around or below their Feb pricing. Therefore, overall multi wafer pricing drops dramatically this week. For mono wafer, their price remains stable this week. As polysilicon pricing uptrend halts, mono wafer makers face more resistance for price increase. In addition, with weaker supply chain demand, mono wafer also face increasing price cut pressure.
Polysilicon price also drops this week. Weak downstream demand in China pushes down the spot polysilicon pricing in the country as polysilicon demand becomes less tight. On the other hand, polysilicon traded outside of China also face increasing price cut pressure with overall weaker solar supply chain demand. Therefore, polysilicon price drops more dramatically this week.
