China imports 189,749 tons of unforged aluminum, alloys in Aug., Customs

China imported 189,749 tons of unforged aluminum and aluminum alloys in August, bringing the total imports for the first eight months to 1.8 million tons, surging 189.9 percent year on year, the General Administration of Customs said on Friday.
Meanwhile, China's exports of unforged aluminum reached 27,300 tons in August, and the exports for the January to August period totaled 134,625 tons, down 78.3 percent from one year earlier.
Besides, the import of alumina hit 340,000 tons in August, bringing the total for the first eight months to 3.63 million tons, increasing 13.9 percent from the same period last year.
China also imported 280,000 tons of aluminum scrap in August, and that for the first eight months increased 2.6 percent year on year to 1.49 million tons.
