Following discussions, the Government of Botswana and De Beers are reported to have restarted their full commitment both to the principle of diamond aggregation as a key vale driver for both partners and the relocation of aggregation activities from the United Kingdom (UK) to Botswana, The Botswana Gazette reported.
“While the severity of the global economic crisis has compelled both partners to focus all efforts on managing the diamond business through the difficult first half of 2009, with the recent improvement in diamond trading constitutions, both partners will now re-focus on finalizing the details necessary to allow aggregation to commence in Botswana as possible next year,” the newspaper said.
