LAKEWOOD, N.J. C Stone-fabrication equipment maker Komo Machine Inc. will relocate here from its former Sauk Rapids, Minn., headquarters by the end of this month.

Komo, founded in St. Cloud, Minn., in 1966, announced the closure of the Sauk Rapids facility in July. The companys new offices in Lakewood will include customer support, machine parts supply and maintenance, engineering and sales.

Manufacturing of equipment, including CNC routers, will be moved to Nanjing, China, at a facility originally opened in 2005 as a technology center.

In a news release, the company noted that it would continue to offer its entire product line of routers, machining centers and CAD/CAM software. It also noted that new machines would be introduced early next year.

Komo, founded by William Koska and George Molus (the Ko and Mo of the firms name), moved from St. Cloud to neighboring Sauk Rapids in 1987. The company went through several ownership changes, including a 1999 sales to Gusmer Machinery Group of Lakewood.

Gusmer Machinery operated as a subsidiary of PMC Global Inc., a privately held industrial conglomerate based in Sun Valley, Calif. PMC later sold off other assets of Gusmer, but kept Komo under its corporate ownership.
