Machine tool demand up; growth impulse back: IMTMA

The order inflows for machine tools are about 30 per cent better now than during the same period previous year, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association President L Krishnan said today.
“We have seen over the last five six months and as compared to the previous year, order inflows are 30 per cent better than the same time previous year,” he told reporters here.
The IMTMA top official was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the two-day National Productivity Summit 2014 that began here today.
Answering a question on the demand scenario for machine tools, he said the demand especially for high-end machines was on the upswing.
On prospects for immediate future, he said, “We are seeing green shoots and slowly growth impulse is coming back and we are hopeful that in the coming six to nine months demand will further pick-up.”
The summit, organised by IMTMA, showcases best productivity improvement projects through case studies from metal working industries to choose the winners of the IMTMA-Siemens Productivity Championships Awards 2014.
Productivity improvement projects from companies like Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Bosch, Delphi TVS Diesel Systems, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Motors, Lucas TVS, Maruti Suzuki were presented at the meet.
