A subsidiary of Chinese solar giants JinkoSolar has signed an agreement this week to develop 100 MW of solar PV projects in China's Hengfeng County.

Jinko Power will engineer, procure and construct (EPC) each project, and will also own and maintain the plants, which will be located in Jiangxi Province in China. Construction will begin in the third quarter of this year, with completion of the entire 100 MW portfolio penciled in for the end of 2014.

"Our power plant development has traditionally been in northwestern China but is now gradually moving towards China's southern and eastern coasts, resulting in a more balanced geographic mix," said JinkoSolar chairman Xiande Li.

Li added that the geographic diversification of JinkoSolar's downstream business enabled the company to retain its leading position in the industry. The Chairman also spoke of how western China's harsh winters regularly set back power development projects – a situation set to be eased by the company's focus on southern and eastern regions.

"Weather in China's east and south is much more moderate [than the west]," said Li. "By continuously enhancing our cooperation with local governments, as well as our development capabilities, JinkoSolar has built an extensive project pipeline.

"Our strong financial position and technological know-how will allow us to construct projects all year-round. With these agreements, we will provide clean energy, create local job opportunities, improve the environment, and contribute to local economic development."
