Norton Abrasives offers its Paradigm Diamond grinding wheels, which feature a bond designed to deliver high performance on carbide round tools and periphery grinding on carbide and cermet inserts. According to the company, the bond results in fast cycle times, fine cutting edges and lower cost per part. The series' fluting wheels enable one-pass flute grinding at higher feed rates, and provide finer edges and longer wheel life in periphery insert grinding. All the grinding wheels in the series are custom manufactured to meet user requirements and are available for Agathon, Anca, Ewag, Makino, Rollomatic, Star, Walter and other grinding systems.
For productivity, the wheels are capable of online truing and dressing for lights-out manufacturing. Wheels are wear-and-load-resistant for grinding 6- to 12-percent cobalt, offering improved control over core growth. High grain retention and uniform structure provide a high G-ratio of material removal rate versus wheel wear, for as much as 2.5 times longer wheel life and 30 percent higher removal rate than other superabrasive wheels, says the company. The wheels also offer low specific cutting energy, enabling faster grinding with a lower power draw and less burn.
