Royal Master Grinders offers its TG-12x8 centerless grinder, which features wide wheels and a compact design, in through-feed, in-feed, high-accuracy and CNC versions. The centerless grinder offers a diameter capacity of 3" (75 mm), a grinding wheel diameter of 12" (300 mm) and a regulating wheel diameter of 8" (203 mm). Both the grinding and regulating wheels are 8" (203 mm) wide. The grinding wheel spindle has 4"-diameter (100-mm-diameter) bearings with three sets of class 7 ABEC angular contact Timken bearings, and is housed inside a larger headstock with an outboard bearing for a twin-grip design that is said to improe grinding wheel accuracy. The regulating wheel’s 2.25" (57-mm) spindle and Timken support bearings enable grinding demanding applications with zero deflection, the company says.
The grinding machine is constructed on the company’s 8"-thick (203-mm-thick) Starrett surface-plate-quality granite with a 0.002" (5-micron) flatness specification for improved rigidity and thermal properties. Regulating wheel spindles are servo-driven, while dressers feature hydraulics. The regulating wheel servo-drive provides 170 foot-pounds of continuous torque with a 10:1 gearbox. Dressers are offered as air-sensing, automatic-dressing, over-the-wheel CNC and rotary diamond disc CNC platforms. A longer, wider ram bed offers improved positioning and is virtually friction-free. The entire ram bed swivels with the work rest holder, making it easier to advance the unit after dressing, reducing setup time.
