Idex Online reports that the American Museum of Natural History in New York City has launched a new diamond exhibit, displaying 25 outstanding diamonds. Intense pink brilliant diamonds set in gold (designed by Carvin French) will be among the items on display.
The diamond exhibit will also display a round, brilliant-cut, 5.4-carat diamond pendant surrounded by 20 sapphires in a white gold setting which was designed in 1960, as well as five vivid colored diamonds from the Olympia Diamond Collection.
Another attraction in the diamond exhibit will showcase man-made diamonds by Apollo Diamond and Gemesis. Apollo produces diamonds with a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique, and Gemesis grows diamonds in a laboratory using the high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) technique in large presses.
The diamond exhibit is curated by George Harlow, who is also the Curator of the Museum of Natural History’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Entrance to the exhibit is free with museum admission.
