China’s Inner Mongolia will invest to produce alumina from coal ash, a waste of byproduct of thermal power generation, in its Jungar, Togtoh and Qingshuihe, local media reported.
Jungar, a coal-rich region, is preliminarily estimated to produce 120 million tonnes of coal in high-Al content annually, and this will generate 30 million tonnes of high- aluminum coal ash. Such amounts of coal ash are expected to produce over 12 million tonnes of alumina, it added.
