Machine tool company, Shenyang Machine Tool Company, is opening a marketing and customer training facility in Santa Clarita, a spokesperson for the company said Friday.
Based in Shenyang, China SMTCL has design centers in Germany and China, as well as manufacturing campuses in China and Germany, said a spokesperson for the company.
The local office on Turnberry Lane in Valencia intends to service the Northern Los Angeles areas, including Santa Clarita, Antelope Valley and San Fernando Valley.
The center will provide customer training, as well as distributor training for new product introductions. SMTCL is planning to partner with manufacturers Fanuc, Siemens, Calmotion and others to present training information.
Home to many aerospace, automotive, engineering and manufacturing companies, SMTCL felt Santa Clarita was a good place to offer its services, the spokesperson said.
In April, the U.S.-based office in City of Industry announced that SMTCL had entered into a partnership with California State Polytechnic University to provide equipment to create a machine lab for engineering students to manufacture components.
“I am honored to work for such a great company and glad to see such growth that has allowed us to expand into Santa Clarita. As a Santa Clarita resident, this new location is very exciting,” said Caitlin May, marketing specialist for the company.
In September, Chief Operating Officer Jerry McCarty said the company is building a factory in the U.S. to serve the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
Founded in 1995, SMTCL is a subsidiary of machine tool manufacturer SYMG – the Shenyang Machine Tool Group. The company reports that it produces 80,000 machine tools each year, and has over 300 products and revenues of $2.9 billion.
