Xinjiang has become China’s top aluminum production province, and its aluminum capacity is expected to hit 6.5 million tonnes by the end of 2015, China Nonferrous Metals News reported yesterday.
Coal-power-aluminum integration is booming in the energy-rich province, whose aluminum capacity stands at 4.37 million tonnes at present and is likely to spike to 6.01 million tonnes at the end of 2014, it added.
Xinjiang produced 2.99 million tonnes of aluminum January-September 2014, it reported.
The province will put extending aluminum industry chain to downstream processing as its top priority, it added.
