The new software will also streamline its existing production capabilities, which have recently been enhanced by the addition of two DMU50 Ecoline five-axis machining centres and an XYZ SLX 425 lathe. Services offered include a rapid response service for Just-in-Time projects.
The company also uses Edgecam software to ensure efficient machining and Jobshop production software.
Acrona says Jobshop has played a pivotal role in helping the business develop, as it enables it to make decisions based on accurate, up-to-the-minute information and so control costs.
Jobshop integrates everything from quotations, sales ordering, purchasing and manufacturing, through to storage, picking and despatch and creating internal invoices. It gives traceability of the entire process from the initial enquiry to the final dispatch and invoice, as well as giving visibility of the costs.
Features of Jobshop utilised by the company include: advanced production planning control system, quotations, sales order processing, materials requirement planning, purchase orders, work orders and scheduling. It also uses the shop floor data capture for booking time and quantities.
Acrona is ISO 9001 accredited and has over 37 years of experience and serves customers in sectors that range from F1 to medical, scientific and aerospace.
As well as investing in its production capabilities, Acrona also believes in investing in its skills base. The company is very proud of the fact that, for the second year running, its apprentice James Middleton has received an award at the Engineering Trust Annual Apprentice Awards.
The company says that Mr Middleton is enthusiastic and eager to learn new techniques and processes and has made great independent strides into offline programming with Edgecam and design with Solidworks.
